Welcome to Fourth Grade! This four-lesson series targets building kids’ skills in understanding how their own thinking may be impacted by the information they consume.
In this series, students explore digital information's impact on thinking and decision-making. Students investigate search algorithms, persuasion tactics, media influence, and critical reasoning. Through independent research and collaborative activities, students engage in exercises to enhance digital literacy and critical thinking in online environments.
Fourth Grade Lessons

Keyword Searching
Students will learn the specifics of keyword searching and connect it to algorithm and confirmation bias. They will conduct their own research using keyword searching to practice the confirmation bias action plan.

Persuasion Tactics
Students will learn how persuasion can elicit various emotions and learn how to accurately identify different persuasive tactics.

Perspectives in Media
Students will learn about how the media influences the spread of information, including examining the effects of virality on personal beliefs and opinions.

Logical Reasoning
Students will practice logical reasoning to solve a mystery, including identifying persuasive tactics used. They will also play the game Fact or Quack to test their skills.
