Students learn how technology shapes emotions and explore strategies that help them thrive in online spaces.

Self-Awareness Online
Students will discover how different technologies make them feel and begin to express their emotions and thoughts about using online tools. Students will determine which DUCC-moji most closely matches their feelings about various technologies.

Community and Belonging
Students will explore the different communities they belong to and reflect on how each makes them feel, from their classroom to online spaces. Using scenario cards of DUCC characters, they will practice see-think-wonder and compare their observations with peers.

Community Agreements
Students will explore how rules keep people safe at school, at home, and online. They will be able to distinguish “safe” from “unsafe” feelings and spaces by watching an animated video and applying those feelings to rule cards.

Safe Internet Use Toolkit
Students will explore five key skills to keep them safe in online spaces. They will identify which skills they are good at and which ones they might need more help with. Students will build their own action plan “toolbox” of skills.
For this lesson, our characters discover that the white box in Daniel’s home that he and Darcy can talk to, isn’t in fact a real person. How will they feel about this new discovery and what will they change about how they speak with it?
